SOYA Brings Community Together for Remembrance and Awareness

SOYA (Save Our Young Adults) marked International Overdose Awareness Day in Sault Ste. Marie with a community remembrance and awareness event focused on honoring those lost to substance use, supporting families, and promoting education and overdose prevention within the community. Though mental health and addictions is at the forefront of conversation compared to years past, there is still work to be done in terms of making care and support available to those that need it. Community members were invited to add to the memorial wall to honour those we’ve lost in a safe space while sharing stories, memories and support. SOYA urges the community to use compassion over judgment, offer support to those struggling and work together to stop the stigma surrounding mental health and addictions.
